John Williams

John Williams was born on 20 August 1913 in Ladywood Birmingham to Ernest Edward Williams and Lucy Fisher.

He was a conductor on the omnibuses in Ladywood and in 1938 he married Beatrice Ingram and they had a daughter Patricia born in 1939 but she was orphaned when “Beat” died in 1945.

He was his mother’s favourite, and he was one of five boys and two girls, so she had a lot to choose from. His sisters remember him as an avid book reader, he loved biographies and he was handsome and kind and made a friend of everyone who met him.

John’s mother Lucy and his older sister Lily visited the grave not long after the war and appear to be part of a large group.

“TO A BEAUTIFUL LIFE COMES A SUDDEN END.

HE DIED AS HE LIVED: EVERYONE’S FRIEND.”
