The death of Lieutenant D.B. Moore on the night of 27 December 1942, while on a patrol, was a great loss to the Battalion. Desmond was posted to the Faughs from the Worcestershire Regiment and joined ‘B’ Company in October 1942.
He will long be remembered with a grin on his face and a bathing towel over his shoulder.
None of his Platoon will forget the little wooden flute which he carved himself and produced at the most unexpected times.
Though Desmond was with us for such a short time, he became a staunch Faugh and is missed by us all.
To his parents and relations, we offer our deepest sympathy.
