Crater Consolidation Course. 2/Lt Diamond and two Other Ranks detailed to attend,

C Company began construction of 4th post on right of lip of Tisda Crater.

Killed: Other ranks – 3. Wounded: 10. Sick: 5.


August 23rd –Trenches.

Divisional Sniping School. Three Other Ranks detailed to attend.

C Company continued construction of new position at Tidsa Crater. Enemy attacked work with explosion of what is apparently a charge placed underground in front of the working, blowing in the sap and driving back our working party and bombers. One bomber Rfn O’Connell missing.

Wounded: Other Ranks – 7. Sick – 10.


August 24th – Trenches.

Bttn in trenches.

Bttn relieved by 2/20th London Regiment. Relief by 11pm. 2/Lt Brown and 2/Lt Curling and 40 Other Ranks made a raid upon enemy’s line at 1110 starting from Dead End Sap and advancing along sap. , returning by P79 Sap 1. No Germans seen but trenches found to be very badly broken up by shell holes. Casualties: One Other Rank slightly wounded, admitted to hospital. Other Ranks: sick – 1.


August 25th – Trenches.
