Left Raimbert at 850am and arrived 330pm in heavy snow storm. Marched via Estree Blanche-Enquingatte and went into billets in Erny St Julien. Barns good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 5th \u2013 Erny St Julien.<\/strong><br>First day field training. Artillery formation practised. Retuned to billets about 430pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 6th \u2013 Erny St Julien.<\/strong><br>Owing to severe weather, field training postponed. Idea \u2013 defence of Erny St Julien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 8th \u2013 Erny St Julien.<\/strong><br>Field exercise \u2013 the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 9th \u2013 Erny St Julien\/Sachin.<\/strong><br>Moved to Sachin. Road very slippery &#8211; great difficulty with Transport. Arrived and went into billets at Sachin at 330pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 10th \u2013 Sachin\/Bruay.<\/strong><br>Marched from Sachin to Bruay with 19th Battalion. Difficulty in finding billets owing to Staff Captains having missed billeting representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 11th \u2013 Bruay.<\/strong><br>In Bruay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 12th \u2013 Bruay.<\/strong><br>Church Parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 13th \u2013 Villers.<\/strong><br>Moved to Villers au Bois and Carency and took over from 2nd North Hampshires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 14th \u2013 Carency Section.<\/strong><br>Went into left sub-Section, Carency Section and relieved 1st Sherwood Forresters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 15th \u2013 Carency Section.<\/strong><br>Signal dugout blown in by Aerial Torpedo \u2013 Sgt Jones DCM Signal Sergeant and Signal Rigger killed. 3 others wounded, all of Signal Section. L\/Cpl Norman 17th Battalion arrived to reconnoitre line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 16th \u2013 Carency Section.<\/strong><br>Relieved by 17th Battalion. Two coys proceeded to Carency and 2 coys to Villers au Bois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 17th\/18th \u2013 Carrency\/Villers.<\/strong><br>Supplied working parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 19th \u2013 Carency\/Villers.<\/strong><br>Bttn HQ was moved to Town Mayor\u2019s house in Villers au Bois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 20th \u2013 Verdrel.<\/strong><br>Moved to Verdrel. Billets for men good, difficulty for officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 21st \u2013 Verdrel.<\/strong><br>Working party at Gouy. Five officers, 250 men for 138 AT Coy RE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 22nd \u2013 Verdrel.<\/strong><br>Same working party furnished as on the 21st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 23rd \u2013 Verdred.<\/strong><br>Bathing at Fresnicourt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 24th \u2013 Verdrel.<\/strong><br>Inspection of Coys by CO impossible to be carried out owing to snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 25th \u2013 Verdrel.<\/strong><br>Brigade Ceremonial \u2013 Corp Commander Lt-General H Wilson inspected the Brigade \u2013 snow very thick on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 26th \u2013 Bouvigny.<\/strong><br>Battalion moved to Bouvigny huts \u2013 took over from 20th Battalion. Relief completed by 11am \u2013 pelting rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 27th \u2013 Bouvigny.<\/strong><br>Relieved by 19th Battalion in Bouvigny huts. Relief completed by 630pm. Still raining. Took over the Lorette trenches from 24th Battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 28th \u2013 Lorette Sector.<\/strong><br>The Brigadier General and Brigade Major came to Bttn HQ at 7pm. Too dark for them to go round line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 29th \u2013 Lorette Sector.<\/strong><br>CO went to Servins in order to proceed to England for his investiture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 30th \u2013 Lorette Sector.<\/strong><br>Brigadier General and Brigade Major went round line about 530pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March 31st \u2013 Lorette Sector.<\/strong><br>Major General Barter and Lt Col Newton Taylor came to Bttn HQ at 10am and went up to \u201cA\u201d Coy .
