Bttn marched to Brigade Parade at Ailly at which Brigadier General Studd gave 3 decorations to members of the 2\/17th Bttn London Regiment and bade farewell to the Brigade. The 2\/18th was described by Brigade Staff as the smartest and sturdiest on parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers of the battalion entertained Lieut Col Murphy to dinner and expressed their confidence in his leadership and sympathy in his sorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Major AE Norton assumed command of the battalion.
Lieut Col Murphy visited each platoon and bade farewell to the Officers and Men, shaking each man by the hand.
When he left for the station at 6pm, the men lined the road and cheered him and the officers took the horse from the shafts and drew the vehicle on their shoulders amidst scenes of intense enthusiasm for Lieut Col Murphy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
