All objectives were gained successfully but there was delay owing to the extraordinary bad state of no man&#8217;s land and the ground between enemies Front and Support Lines. The withdrawal was carried out successfully but very slowly owing to heavy enemy barrage. A stubborn resistance was met with and many of the enemy were killed. Eighteen prisoners were taken. Several emplacements and dug-outs were destroyed and one heavy machine gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 8th to 10th \u2013 Halifax Camp.<\/strong><br>Relieved by 15th Battalion London Regt at 2.30 am and went into Reserve at Halifax Camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 11th\/12th &#8211; Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>March by march route to Steenvoorde<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 13th to 17th \u2013 Steenwoorde.<\/strong><br>Training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 18th \u2013 Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>The Army Commander visited the Battalion at training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 19th\/20th \u2013 Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>Training<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 21st \u2013 Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>The Army Commander visited the Battalion at training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 22nd to 24th \u2013 Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>Training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 25th \u2013 Steenvoorde.<\/strong><br>The Divisional Commander presented medal ribbons to men who had been awarded the Military Medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 26th \u2013 Ontario Camp.<\/strong><br>Marched by march route to Ontario Camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 27th to 31st &#8211; Ontario Camp.<\/strong><br>500 men per day out on working parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 1st to 4th \u2013 Halifax Camp.Training.
