London Irish soldiers on patrol

Introduction

The London Irish Rifles Regimental Association is a charitable organisation which gives welfare and financial support to D (London Irish Rifles) Company, part of the Territorial Army's London Regiment. The London Regiment directly supports the Foot Guards, and is administered by the Household Division.

The Association also represents a thriving community of Old Comrades and supports the London Irish Army Cadet Force (ACF) detachments and the Association Pipes and Drums.

A volunteer Rifle Regiment with a distinguished history, fighting in two World Wars, the London Irish Rifles were formed 150 years ago during the Victorian Volunteer Movement. They continue their proud traditions to this day. Having moved from Chelsea in 2000, the Association are co-located with the TA Company in Camberwell , London. The Company has a Platoon outstation in Hammersmith.

The serving TA soldiers are volunteers who train at weekends and for two weeks battle camp each year. They wear both a green beret and the famous Irish 'Caubeen.' The London Irish Rifles have recently deployed soldiers on operations to the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.
